Three remembrance events will take place to commemorate the Glider Pilot Regiment and the 6th Airborne Division’s role in D-Day at the locations of former airfields from where they took off. The events will take place at Tarrant Rushton (Dorset), Blakehill Farm (Wiltshire) and Harwell (Oxfordshire). Details of each are below.
Tarrant Rushton – 14:00 - 2nd June
The Wimborne Branch of the Royal Air Force Association will be holding a service at the Tarrant Rushton memorial at 14:00 on 2nd June. It will take place at the “Windy Corner” memorial on the Witchampton Road, DT11 8SB. It is recommended to be there by 13:30.

Blakehill Farm – 10:00 to 16:00 – 8th June
Volunteer reserve warden and RAF Blakehill Farm historian, Vince Povey will be conducting a walking tour around all three runways of the old airbase, which is now a glorious nature reserve. Lunch is included.

Harwell – 17:30 - 8th June
A service will take place at the Harwell Campus at 17:30 on 8th June. The service is coordinated by the Royal British Legion and is an annual event. Those wishing to attend should arrive by 17:00. The location of the service is on the Perimeter Road, Didcot, Oxfordshire OX11 0PG, UK
